The New Zealand Moa
- The tallest bird that ever lived was New Zealand’s Moa, which became extinct about 600 years ago – a century after the arrival of humans in New Zealand.
- The largest of the Moa species were up to 13 feet tall.
- It is generally considered that most, if not all, species of moa died out by A.D. 1400.
- A few Moa survived into the 1600's.
- The largest species of moa was Dinornis maximus.

Hi Karl,
13 feet is pretty tall - twice as tall as Papa!
You have presented these facts in an easy-to-read format, good work.
Did you find out why the moa died out?
Love Mama
