Living on a Shoestring by Nyree Tomkins.

Living on a Shoestring by Nyree Tomkins.

This story is about Mum getting a book called How to Live on a Shoestring from the library. After Mum got it Dad thumbed through it and said “We do most of these things already, but we do waste toothpaste. Do you realise how much toothpaste you waste by not using everything in the tube?” Then Mimi said “We do use everything in the tube” and Dad said “No.”

Then Dad said “And Julia you could save money by using vinegar on your hair instead of conditioner”. Julia said “Vinegar? I don’t think  so”. So Dad said “Yes it’ll work, Conditioner just balances the pH in your hair. Shampoo is a soap, so it has a alkaline pH and you need something acidic, like vinegar, to balance it out.”
