On Saturday 28 December 2013 Robin, Mama, Papa and I did the Coast to Coast Walk. It goes from the City to Onehunga and is one of the only places in the world world where you can go from one ocean to another in a day. It usually takes 5 and a half hours but it took us 4 and a half hours. It is 16 km. There are 3 optional hills on the way. One is Auckland Domain, two is Mount Eden and three is One Tree Hill.
Robin and I went on our scooters and Mama and Papa walked. We each took water and snacks. I felt happy to do it.
I am a Year 6 student at Glenbrae School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 9 and my teacher is Mr Nath.

Christmas Day
On Christmas Day I woke up early and went to my Mum and Dad's room. Robin was already in there and we all opened our stockings. I got a magic set, a Darth Vader Lightsabre, two Hot Wheels, some cookies, and chocolates. From Robin I got a necklace. From Uncle Steve and Aunty Sue I got a Nerf Gun and a T-Shirt. We then went to Aunty Listy's house for breakfast and got presents there. I got a Nerf flying football, All Blacks Pillow Pet and heaps of other cool stuff. Following that, we went to Hamilton for a late lunch with Papa's family and opened some more gifts before we came home the next day. The best thing about Christmas was seeing family.

After School
After School on Friday Papa, Robin and I went down to Saint Heliers to look for Santa's. We found them all. We went around Saint Heliers and went down the same streets a couple of times. It was fun anyway. Then we got some food and I got some Sushi and a Milkshake. The Milkshake was strawberry flavored and refreshing. Then we came home.

My Reflection on Netbooks -2013
Hi, My name is Karl. I am in Room 9. My teacher is Mr. D. Nath.
This was an exciting year for me because I started using my chromebook for my learning. I was excited by the thought of doing cool stuff on it, but it took me awhile to start using it responsibly.
These are my reflections:
My teacher taught me how to use sumo paint, keyboard shortcuts and cybersafety. The thing I learn’t from myself was how to use google presentation and how to type so I finish my work quick and go on study ladder. The things I learnt was to be on the right sites.
Outside of school I learnt how to organise my google drive and change the colours of my folders. I helped other kids this year by telling them how to do things like getting on to the class site. I used my Key Competencies to think what to research about, wrote Positive E-mails and blog posts, Used language, symbols and texts to get my punctuation correct for my writing and managing what sites I am on so I don’t go on games or youtube. (The picture below is from a narrative I wrote).

Christchurch Orana Park
Orana Park
On Saturday 30 November Nana, Mama, Robin and I went to Orana Park, the Christchurch Zoo. First we saw the meerkats and the otters. Then we went to the farmyard area and patted cows and sheep, and also saw donkeys, Shetland ponies, llamas and alpacas as well as chickens and ducks. Next we saw the kea, where I learnt the young kea have yellow around their eyes and beaks. There were a lot of African animals including giraffes, rhinos, African wild dogs, cheetahs, lions, springbok and zebras. My favourite animals were the lions, cheetahs, and tigers. (The picture below is of Krissila's pride feeding.)
